This mortise was marginally better, and/or easier to complete. I used a wider chisel. Very sharp. But I didn’t get it quite square so the two holes from opposite sides didn’t quite line up. It’ll work for this bench, but I need to be more careful on the next one.

Couldn’t Resist…
According to today’s plan, I shuffled off to WoodCrafters this morning to pick up that 3/8″ chisel. Well… they didn’t have one. That had a 10mm, which would have been close enough I suppose. But, it’s a nice day and I figured a drive out to Rockler wouldn’t be a bad idea, eleven miles away….
