The net began with Gary checking in at 0758, closely followed with Mary, Harry, and Lynn for a total of five. Gary and I kicked off the meeting through a brief discussion of him helping his eighth-grade step-son with some algebra problems – not to mention they were word problems; they’re always a little tricky.
Mary is (so far) planning to take the day off from walking, although, the weather looks great for any outdoor activity.
We talked about the relative merits of advanced education; the consensus being that graduate degrees are worth the effort when it comes to career advancement. And even though there is no job title “Englisher”, Mary has done well enough by writing her share of business proposals in her early years. Gary related an educational experience in Technical Writing where his task was to write a description of what a paper clip does to one who has never seen one before. Think that one over in your spare time!
The remarkable progress of the Austin Tesla Gigafactory was noted. It’s amazing how many people are working there even now, judging by the number of cars in the parking lot. Harry’s heading out to shop for a car today. Hold out for a Tesla! The new Cybertruck will be rolling off the assembly line early next year!
Before you know it, if Elon has anything to say about it, there’ll be one on Mars!
John continues to putter along on the workbench, now having successfully glued together two 2x4s; Harry wondered why he didn’t use 4x4s… Great mind, that Harry! Mary described the satisfaction of sweeping up sawdust, amply generated by the Dewalt 735.
Things were drifting to a close when Mary asked if anyone had heard of Blind Hockey. We’ll have to cover that in more detail next time around, Mary. How does that work, anyway?
Having still not reached a critical mass for a sit-down breakfast, the next meeting is scheduled for Saturday morning via Zoom at 0800 Central. Bring your own muffin… The usual login credentials apply.
