A beautiful morning at Gusto’s for coffee today! Even though I was on the way home before I figured out it wasn’t Saturday. Mary and I joined Lynn, Roger, and Harry on the deck completely mask-free for the entire visit. Most of the visitors were maskless as was the entire staff.
We even had a few ham radio-related topics kicked around the table, from amplifiers, to antennas, to these “new-fangled” FT8/FT4 modes. I might even get the KX3 out of mothballs and fire it up! I’m thinking of a vertical with a few radials through my SGC 239 Smartuner. I have a couple of them around here somewhere. I might even be able to mount it on the wall just inside from where it connects to the antenna. Food for thought.
Lynn did a show’n’tell with his mag-mount dual-band antenna. We tried it out on the Tesla and it seems to work just fine. I guess getting out the HTs is another project on the list! (And finding the charger!)
We also kicked around the idea of trying a new simplex frequency. I propose we try 145.77 MHz. I’ve used it for years with no problem.
Next meeting: Saturday morning, May 29, 2021, 0730, Big Biscuit. See you there!
VHF Simplex Frequency: 145.77 See you on the air!
