Our Zoom session began smartly at 0800 Central with Gary as the first check-in. Followed by Mary and Roger close behind. After a brief role call, for some reason or another, we started off talking about euthanasia, each of us having a short somewhat relevant story to tell. Maybe that’s just what old folk talk about…
John briefly demoed tv.youtube.com and we discussed the relative merits of various streaming technologies. Gary has terminated his “cable” service and now finds it best for him to use an à la carte method to acquire content.
Roger will be visiting friends and/or family in Colorado sometime soon which led to a discussion of how some people just don’t respect the wildlife in some of our wilderness areas. They’re not pets. So, don’t try to feed the grizzlies. And you’d be surprised as to how big an elk is. John shared Mary’s post of the Corn Snake she came across on a hike a few days ago.
John spoke to the progress on the Moravian workbench. And just had to show the video of Will Myers putting his together in 58.09 seconds, while the William Tell Overture plays in the background. John will be using his stash of SYP (Southern Yellow Pine, aka Longleaf Pine [Pinus palustris]), typically available only in the southeast states. By the way, efforts to restore longleaf pine forests in South Carolina are proving quite successful. Read about it here.
And of course, we all had to commiserate on the rising prices of nearly everything from gas to grass seed. Meeting adjourned at 0900.
Next meeting: Regular Zoom Net, Wednesday, 0900 Central.
